BRIGHT HORIZONS SIGNS 13,887 SF LEASE AT HARRISON SQUARE CHICAGO
Chicago, IL | November 01, 2019
MB Real Estate (MBRE) announced today that child-care provider Bright Horizons is opening a 13,887 square foot center at 1835 W. Harrison St., the site of the Old Cook County Hospital currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The childcare center is the second tenant to sign a deal at the historic building, which will also be home to the new Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS) offices.
“Bright Horizons has dozens of locations in and around Chicago, and we’re excited to continue to meet families’ childcare needs,” said Bright Horizons Director of Real Estate Development Teresa Nations. “The Illinois Medical District in particular is somewhat lacking in childcare centers and those present typically have long waiting lists, so this will be a very beneficial amenity for working parents.”
“The Harrison Square Chicago project is largely meant to revitalize the Illinois Medical District and bring jobs and services that have long been sparse in the area,” said Murphy Development Group Managing Director Chris Horney. “Bright Horizons is another step in the right direction for that purpose; we’re thrilled to see it all coming together.”
Bright Horizons’ new space will be opening in Q3 2020. The redevelopment of the Old Cook County Hospital is slated for completion in Q2 2020.
Jim Schutter of Newmark Knight Frank and Lawrence R. Jarosz of Suburban Real Estate Services, Inc. were the cooperating landlord and tenant rep brokers for this deal, respectively.
